How might our friends and relatives react if we make our relationship a Taken In Hand one?

Family affair

I asked my husband whether, if we were getting married now, he would want me to make a public declaration by saying 'obey' in our vows. He said not, as our relationship is private. It's funny how, a few decades ago, it would have been making a statement to my family for me NOT to say obey!

I wouldn't want my family to know some of the intimate details, but them knowing that my husband has the final say doesn't worry me too much. I don't plan on announcing it but I wonder if, over time, they'll realise how the dynamics of our relationship have changed? I think they have noticed that I don't nag him any more and it was remarked on that I care for him more, such as making his breakfast and taking it to him.
