Books with cold places -

One of my favourite writers, Mark Helprin, writes books set in cold places.
Check out "A City in Winter" (part two of his Swan Lake trilogy - written for
children but enchanting stuff!) and "Winter's Tale" (fabulous tale set in
mythical New York - a one sentence blurb would not do it justice).
