Hmmm, that is an interesting point. Yeah, a massive tax on tires would
be just as effective as a gas tax, and could be more easily geared to
target those vehicles which do the most damage to roads if that's your
concern... *or* it could be used to target vehicles which most greatly
increase urban sprawl. Hmmm...
