HAL, I've already complained to my publisher and asked for a change in that
web page.
As for the subtitle of my book (The Transparent Society: Will Technology
Force Us to Choose Between Freedom and Privacy?) it was chosen to be
deliberately provocative. At MANY points in the book I answer the question
with a resounding No!
Again. A truly free people will be able to demand some privacy. But freedom
comes 1st, and there's not an iota of evidence that secrecy has ever been
liberty's friend. Indeed, the counter examples are legion.
