My first polymath post:

I'm flattered to have been invited to join, and delighted to be here.

It occurs to me that some other recipients won't have a clue who I am.
Certainly a few of the names of the 20 early joiners are not known to me.
Might I suggest a brief outline from each person, perhaps as follows?

I'm an Australian writer (specialising in science fiction, poststruck/pomo
literary theory - which is what I got my doctorate in - and pop reviews of
books about science) with a sometime-experimental and reasonably sceptical
interest in parapsychology. I guess I'm a left-anarchist Banksian Culture
transhumanist, rather than an extropian, although most of my posts of late
have been to the latter list. My latest book is THE SPIKE, which tries to
convey some of the issues related to the upcoming (?) Vingean Singularity.
So far it's only available in my own country.

A bit more can be found on the bio/biog page on me set up by the people at
Ozlit, a private database supported by the State of Victoria, where I live.
The URL is horrible to look upon, and my only copy is buried in my .sig
file, so I'll append that below.

Oh yes - and I'm an o-l-d f-a-r-t, too old even to be a boomer... :)

Regards, Damien B. (which I suppose is how I'll be known on a list founded
by Damien S.)
