Beauty's love of the Classics
In the book "Beauty", and, being a lover of Greek and Roman myths and legends myself, I could really appreciate Beauty's scholarship. I found it odd, however, that in all the different tales McKinley mentions in the book, she never mentions the story of Cupid and Psyche, the original "Beauty and the Beast". Maybe she didn't want to give Beauty an easy way of figuring out the Beast's "predicament"? Who knows. Anyway, this has been bugging me since I read the book, and I just wondered if it had occured to anyone else.
