Calli-Imanyan is recorded as conquered a year or two after this series of conquests, but I have included it here for three reasons. First, the time span between it and the other conquests is relatively small; second, it is very close to Tolocan, even closer than other conquests made at this time; and third, it was not on the route to any other conquest. |

Coatepec (present-day Coatepec de Harinas, near Cuitlapilco) was also conquered, probably at the same time (Ixtlilxóchitl 197577, 2:14445 [chap. 53]; Paso y Troncoso 190548, 6:116, 149; Sahagún 1954:2; Torquemada 197583, 1:248 [bk. 2, chap. 58]). |

Two other conquered townsNeucatepec and Cimatepecare of uncertain location, apparently on the southwest side of what is now called the Sierra Nevada de Toluca (Crónica mexicana 1975:426 [chap. 51]; Ixtlilxóchitl 197577, 2:144 [chap. 53]). Their relative isolation presents some difficulties in assigning them to either the valley of Tolocan or the southern campaign. Nevertheless, the area was definitely conquered, according to an account from nearby Temazcaltepec (Paso y Troncoso 190548, 7:20). Access is difficult from either the valley of Tolocan (which would require a movement southwestward through a mountain pass from Tolocan) or the Chontalcoatlan area, but the latter route is easier, going up a valley from the Cuitlapilco area to Neucatepec and then crossing more mountainous areas to Temazcaltepec and on to Cimatepec. The army could then either backtrack or proceed to Tolocan, but given the apparent entry (Ocuillan) and exit (Tenantzinco) of the southern campaign, the former is more likely. |
