Conduct Unbecoming

Part 9

"Hello mates, bloody good to see you in one piece," came the call from the blond vamp standing in the doorway. Giles and Xander made a mad dash for the stakes and holy water in Giles' office. Spike cut them off halfway there.

"No need to get physical boys. I just think it's time we had a little chat is all."

"What on earth could you possibly want to chat about, besides your abundant desire to kill us all?", laughed Giles.

"Well, things seem to have changed a bit. You see, before the whole Acathla mess blew up, I made a deal with your friend the slayer, and I mean to keep it."

"What kind of deal would Buffy make with you?" spat out Xander angrily.

"I told her that if she let Drusilla live, I'd take Dru and head out of town for good. There's only one problem- Dru's gone missing, and I think she's come back here to make meals out of some or all of you. So unless you fancy being the main course of an all-Dru-can-eat buffet , I think you should help me look for her."

Giles looked at him strangely. "And what makes you think we'd believe a word you say?"

"Well, Buffy sure did. Weren't you wondering who helped her clobber Angel long enough to help stop the demon from sucking the world into hell?"

Both Xander and Giles looked skeptically at their former enemy. They they looked at each other, thinking the same thing- if Drusilla was after them, they were in real danger. And what other reason would Spike have for coming to them for help unless he was telling the truth?

Giles sighed. "Where should we start looking?"

Oz clamped his hand over Mrs. Summers mouth just as she got the words "Why don't you come..." out. Phew!

But Drusilla wasn't as appreciative. "Naughty, naughty boy! Miss Edith says no dessert for you!" She reached out and backhanded the boy as he attempted to get Joyce into the house and out of harm's way. Oz fell forward onto Mrs. Summers, knocking her into the house through the now unlocked door. He stood and turned to face the Vampiress.

"I don't think you know who you're dealing with." At that he growled at her menacingly, and she paused in her lunge toward him.

"Well, what have we here? Are you a creature of the night as well? No, Miss Edith says you're a werewolf. Shouldn't you be on my side?"

"Not on your life. Now get out of here before I have to get physical."

"Oh, poor wolfy doesn't want to play, Miss Edith. Very well, I'll go. But give your friend the slayer a message for me. Tell her to watch out, because sooner or later, I'll find one of you unprotected, and I'll make her sorry she ever took my daddy away." With that Drusilla strode off the porch, laughing like a maniac.

Oz was glad she was gone, but now he had other things to deal with. He looked at the form of the inebrieated Mrs. Summers sprawled out on the entryway to her home. He needed to call Giles.

Willow and Cordelia headed toward the Library in Cordelia's car. They really didn't have a plan, they just knew they had to straighten things out with Xander. Cordelia nearly left skidmarks all the way down the street as her headlights hit someone standing in the middle of the road.

She came to a stop just before she would have hit the woman standing there. It was dark, and Cordelia jumped out of the car without thinking. "What the hell do you think you're doing standing in the middle of the..." She stopped midsentence as she realized who she was screaming at.

Drusilla.

"Hello, sweet. Nice night for a stroll, isn't it? I was just hoping to run into you, or one of the Slayer's other little friends. Yes, you'll do nicely." Before she could move, Dru had grabbed Cordy around the throat. Cordelia struggled against the Vampire's grasp, but Drusilla responded by lifting her a good foot off of the ground, and throwing her on to the hood of her car.

"Oh I'm so glad you're not going to make this easy. That would take all the fun out of it!" Drusilla, fangs bared, dove toward the dazed form splayed out on the hood of her father's BMW...
