strong heroines and tanith lee

Tanith Lee (Black Unicorn) was recommended as a book with a strong heroine(s). I've seen her recommended in a couple different places. I'm under the impression that she's a horror writer - does she write other things? Is Black Unicorn horror? Actually, I know she doesn't write exclusively horror, because I have a very funny children's fantasy by her - Prince on a White Horse (which I highly recommend, by the way). I've avoided the rest of her books, because I don't like horror. Also, on the subject of strong heroines, I'd recommend Cynthia Voight's earlier novels (Homecoming, Dicey's Song, Come a Stranger). I've recommended then on this site before, I think, but it bears repeating! They're realism, not fantasy, but they are very, very, good. Robin K.
