Maria-sama ga Miteru:
Kohitsuji-tachi no Kyuka

(Maria Sama is watching:
Vacation of the Lambs)

"Good morning. Miss Fukuzawa, may I carry your luggage."
"Oh."
"Let it be. Yumi, we are going to the summerhouse using this car."
"But"
"I do this every year."

Yumi, who was following Sachiko-sama into her summerhouse like goldfish dung, was in not position to protest. Also, it was Yumi' hidden objective to follow Onee-sama's action pattern during their stay.
"... All right."
Yumi noddingly put her baggages in the hands of the driver. Just as she thought absent-mindedly about what she should do with Mom's travel allowance, Yumi suddenly realized.

Her parasol was missing.
She was wearing the shoulder bag, the cardigan and the hat. The temperature-preserving case that contained the lunchboxes were on her hands. The basket was entrusted to the driver, and was now in the truck. However the white parasol was nowhere to be found.

"What happened? Come on!"
Sachiko-sama, who had settled herself at the backseat, opened the door a little and said.
"Y-Yes."
Yumi hurriedly got into the car. Onee-sama's commands act like winding the younger sister's spring. This might just be limited to Yumi's case, though.

"What?"
Sachiko-sama asked.
"No. Nothing."
Yumi shook her head with a smile.

If Yumi said "her parasol is missing," chances were that Sachiko-sama would delay their departure to search for it.
Yumi would be grateful but troubled.
Yumi did not want to trouble her Onee-sama, and she hated it if their precious first trip lost track at the beginning due to her mistake.

"Driver, let's go!"
She might have got carried away, but she raised her fist heartfully to boost the atmosphere.
Compared to the time she arrived, there were some more people around the station.

Six in the morning.
The bus which Yumi always took to go to school spit off about thirty people after arriving at the station, and went off again nearly empty.
As if to follow the bus, the black car drove away from the rotary at the station's north entrance.

The parasol should be okay.
Most probably it was left on Yumi's home car.
Do not fret on it. Compared to umbrella stands outside convenient stores, that was a place one million times safer.

However.
Yumi's dream to walk around the summer resort with her Onee-sama under the white parasol had evaporated like dew.
